Our Story

We’re so happy you’re here.

We’re Kayla and Nicola, the two mums, the dreamers, the late night order packers and the slightly chaotic humans behind Coastal Wanderers. 🌊

Coastal Wanderers started back in 2022 with two friends, a love of the ocean and a little idea that we weren’t quite sure would become anything.

We had a Cricut in our loungeroom, a pile of blank tees and absolutely no idea what we were doing. We’d sit up late pressing shirts, packing orders and talking about what this little dream could become one day.

Before long, the loungeroom wasn’t enough. Then the laundry wasn’t enough. Then a bedroom wasn’t enough.

And now, after years of growing, moving, learning and figuring it all out as we went, Coastal Wanderers has finally found its home in our very own poolside shed studio.

A little space of our own, right here at home, where the orders get packed, ideas come to life and the next chapter of Coastal Wanderers gets created.

When we look back, it honestly feels a little surreal.

Because Coastal Wanderers has grown up right alongside our family.

At the heart of it all has always been our son, Acre. He was the reason we started looking for something different in the first place. We struggled to find clothes that felt like him, so we decided to create them ourselves.

What started with making a few tees for our boy slowly became a brand built around individuality, adventure, family and the simple things we love most.

And then life changed in ways we never could have imagined.

Our friendship became love. We became a family. We walked through IVF, all the hope, uncertainty and emotions that came with it, and eventually welcomed our beautiful boys into our world.

Acre, now 5, has gone from being the little boy who inspired Coastal Wanderers to becoming a big brother.

And in June 2026, our beautiful Rivvy joined us. 💙

Now there are two little boys growing up alongside this crazy little business we created from our loungeroom.

Rivvy has already spent his first months surrounded by parcels, packing tape, clothes racks and probably more Coastal Wanderers content than he ever asked for 😂.

And Acre gets to watch the brand he helped inspire grow while he grows too.

That’s probably what makes this all feel so special to us.

Coastal Wanderers isn’t something separate from our life.

It is our life.

It’s been there through the exciting moments and the really bloody hard ones. Through IVF appointments, sleepless nights, sick days, growing families, business setbacks, big wins and all the ordinary little moments in between.

It’s been built around our kitchen tables, in our loungerooms, between school runs, baby feeds and family life.

There have been times we’ve wondered if we could keep going.

Times when things didn’t go to plan.

Times when we’ve looked around at everything and thought, how did this little idea become all of this?

But then we remember why we started.

We never wanted to just make clothes.

We wanted to create something that reminded kids they don’t have to be like everyone else.

That being different is something to be proud of.

That kindness matters.

That they can take up space, chase big dreams, love fiercely and Make Waves in their own way.

Because we truly believe the world doesn’t need more people trying to fit in.

It needs more little people brave enough to be themselves.

And maybe that’s why this brand means so much to us.

Because every piece carries a tiny part of our story.

From those very first homemade tees to the matching clothes we now make for entire families, Coastal Wanderers has grown because of people like you.

People who found us, believed in us, shared our little brand with their friends, dressed their kids in our clothes and came along for the ride.

You’ve watched our family grow.

You’ve watched Acre become a big brother.

You’ve welcomed Rivvy into the Coastal Wanderers family.

And you’ve helped turn something that started with a Cricut in a loungeroom into a dream we now get to run from our very own little poolside studio.

So, from our little family to yours…
